Thanks Fe Fanatic, thats great reference material there, much better than the Clymer manual. I will have a look at the screen in the oil tank thats for sure

Thanks for the link Bill they look good, I think ill try and stick with the 17mm plugs if possible, Ill try and get them locally if i can but if not ill go back to your link

Does anybody know what thread size and pitch the oil plugs are?? No problem if not, Ill just take one out It would just save me going out under the bike again, lol...

I just did a little research and found that they are M14 x 1.5

Well , I finally have a little time to myself and decided to finish putting the top end back together, I went to buy some oil and filters today but I am having some trouble with buying the correct oil

The only V Twin oil I have been able to find in my local area has been Motul 7100, I bought the filters and come home to research the ZDDP levels of Motul 7100 as there is no details printed on the container, I Googled the oil and still cannot find the details of this oil anywhere.

I know this topic has probably been covered many times but I want to make sure I dont have any more problems...

Will Motul 7100 be adequate for "Break In" of the Cam and Lifters or not??? Just want to be sure before I spend $89.95

And whats peoples thoughts on "Break In" done by riding the bike a short distance, maybe in a lower gear than needed or something over doing it in the backyard??? little concerned over noise and overheating???

There's special break-in grease. Coat everything in it. Should not cost more than $6-12. My cam went bad and ate a lifter as well about 3 years ago and I replaced it. If you replace the lifter, replace the cam, because the cam now has a bad spot from strange wear, and it will only eat another lifter quickly. I paid around $300 for my new cams, and $1.18 for new lifters. I replaced all 4 lifters and both cams. Once you coat everything in break-in grease, go about 15 miles, come back, change your oil and filter. Keep in mind there's all that debris from the bad lifter floating around hte bottom of your motor. I did the oil change when I did the lifter change, then at 15 miles, 50 miles, and 100 miles. Last thing I need is a little chunk of metal breaking something else.

Yes Nasomi, thats exactly what I intend to do

I ended up getting 4 X 1 Qt bottles of Mobil 1 V Twin ordered in and picked them up this morning so I started getting back into assembling the top end, I only got as far as installing the lifters, chrome lifter tubes and the rocker gear. Tomorrow I have to go and pick up my drag bike so probably wont have time to do much anyway, maybe just adjust the rockers, even tho these bikes have hydraulic lifters there is still an adjustment to be made...
