Calling all Big-Arse riders: Wide vs Narrow? 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Let's face it, not all of us are created equal. What works for some, may not work for others...

Some of us were *ahem* endowed with a greater posterior than others. So this question goes out to my fellow "Big-Ass" Roadie riders. I'm looking for a new seat, *butt* I'm uncertain which way to go; narrow or wide. I'm curious to hear what others have experienced.

I'm trying to find that all day comfort and not sure which is better. The stock Roadie seat has given me issues with my tail bone. I've never had this problem with any of my previous bikes which all had narrow seats. i.e. sport bikes, sportster etc., butt then again, the roadie is also the first bike I've had with forward controls, which places more weight on my tailbone. So... What say you? Considering I provide my own "gel pack", which is better, "more space to hang out" or "packing it in"?

...And of course, this also goes out to those who, [wink wink] "know someone" with a broad perspective. Not you of course, butt some guy you may know....

Its the stock seats shape that is bugging your tailbone Buddy. If you look at it its crowned in the middle rather than flat or dished out that puts more pressure on the old tailbone. I just got the danny gray weekday 2Up xl and its a skinny seat that drops you down into the bike. I have not gotten any ”ride time” in with it yet but what i can say is the drivers seat is about 13” wide and the passanger seat is the same as the stock seat. It seams very firm yet very suportive. Maybe after some saddle time it will loosen Up some and get softer. The e.d. Seats seam to be the talk of the town for a wide all day comfortable ride. Cheifriceburner can hook you Up with That seat.

I agree stock seat sucks that is why I am hoping that the custom work that I am having done will help that,I run with just the floorboards and a set of highway pegs so I can change up and my tailbone still kills me after a long ride, thats a 2nd on the size 40s by the way

Well, some say I am a bit on the 'large" side.
Really, I'm just about a foot and a half too short for my weight.
The R* is mt first cruiser bike and has a Mustang seat installed. It is a bit wider than the stock I have and has seemed ok so far. I have been tempted to try the stock to see how it fits.
What I really missed on a 170 mile ride was the ability to slide back & forth like I did on my old Triumphs and Goldwing (the naked kind). I sort of miss the long flat seat.

Well...ahem....large...kinda...bigger pant size than I've seen here so far...and the biggest aid I found on a recent trip from V.I. to Brandon Manitoba & back (approx. 5000 km of riding) was a basket weave design on the upholstery on my 87 wing...the irregular surface aided the air flow between butt & seat..some days I rode 13 hrs and still felt like I could back on the bike and ride again..
I've got the stock seat on my R* and am headin to SD in August from BC (approx 6000 km return) and I'm hopin that it don't kill my butt...but I guess I'll find out.

I'm running a Corbon 2-up Tour. Took awhile (around a 1000 miles)
to get used to it, but now that's all I need. No Monkey butt, no
tail bone ache, nothing.

I too am in 40's waist...

How many of you guys 40+/40+ (40 waist for me; 47 years)? Most I run is about 4-6 hours a day, Tallahassee to Orlando/Daytona/Tampa runs, stock seat is fine for me. I do miss the Corbin on my old 'Wing.
