It can be done though. It made no sense to me that the tall sissy bar is shaped like a paperclip and the pad is an almost round donut. I scribed a piece of plywood to follow the outline of the sissy bar, put inserts in it to bolt to then hauled it to the upholstery shop. Looks factory and is just the width of the sissy bar and comes down almost to the seat.
