This bugs me 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
This morning I stoped at the coffee shop and every parking spot was taken except for the handicap spot. After waiting a minute or two for someone to come out so I could park. I decided the wait wasn't worth it so I back my truck out on to the road so I could go find a parking spot out on the street. I'm half out in the street and some old lady starts blowing her horn at me. Scared the crap out of me. The street was narrow and getting my truck out with all the traffic was a PITA.

Anyway, I find a parking spot and walk back to the store. Just as I'm going in I pass a guy coming out. He jumps into a nice car and what does he have hanging from his mirror ?.... He has one of those handicap hanger things with the picture of a wheel chair on it. My first thought was, wow he didn't even look handicaped. He walks a lot better than I do. Then I thought, WTF ! He has a handicap thing and he didn't use it. He took a spot that I could have used but instead I had to go find a spot out on the street ! He has a lot of balls and if I see him again I'm going to let him know just how I feel about that. Just my rant, I feel better now.

One of my best friends has spina bifida, he's always too proud to use his parking tag. The irony is I always want him to drive so we can get better parking

I imagine you felt like this this morning. I have a handicap placard for my wife but if she's not in the car I park some where else and walk. So that might be what this guy does.

around here most of the folks using the handicapped spaces are big fat asses that need to walk in from the back on the parking lot in my opinion!

I have one in my truck, but it's for my wife. I never use it when she's not with me. Maybe that was the case for that guy.

Speaking of handicap parking. A friend of mine parked his Heritage between two poles in the Wal-Mart parking lot. It was up front around the Handicap parking, but it did not interfere wih any one's parking, but it was in the yellow striped area. Cost him $185.00!! So be careful where you park your scoot.

I could understand complaining about a guy that is healthy parking in a handicapped spot. But you are complaining that a healthy looking guy that walks fine didn't park in the handicapped spot. did I read this wrong?

Just because he has a placard in the vehicle doesn't mean he alone deserves to use it. Spouse, family member etc etc. I'd guess that he has experience helping someone handicapped and feels that if he can walk well he shouldn't take a spot reserved for someone who can't.

Wife has a placard because she has 35% lung function and get out of breath in just a few feet. Won't be long and she will be on an Oxy bottle I think. I am not to far behind as well and what chaps me is the ones that are healthy that parks in the handy cap spot. I do some times use the placard if she isn't with me. Getting old sucks.

I think we forget to read between the lines and understand. This was more of a metaphor to me about remembering how a handicapped person feels when we take their spot.
