Ignition switch and battery ???? 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
So I took my bike to this harley guy that knows everything about bikes.....told him over the phone how to get the seat off yet after 1.5 hrs still no luck. So I drove out to his shop and took it off for him in which he felt very stupid. he mentioned he sprayed the switch with cleaner thinking something was wrong with it, now there is it seams to stick. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on getting it out. Heat? Also my battery seems to be shot. What is the best battery for the rs. I am adding a reckless fairing next week with a large radio system. Thanks. You guys are the best and from on I'll do my work out of my clymer manual and rsc.

When my turn key started sticking, I used powdered graphite.

I'm not sure what year your Roadstar is or whether it has the better/later charging system.

Something to think about though when adding the fairing and radio.

I just replaced my battery with a Yuasa YTX20L-BS. It's AGL technology, maintenance free and lasts a good long time. They claim that you won't even have to put on a trickle charger over the winter. It's about $100 if you search the web. A little more from your stealer.

To answer your question. Use compressed air to get rid of any penetrating oil. I wwouldn't put powdered anything in now because there may be some residue left behind and it will just gum up on you. as far as the battery goes look here it is the heavy duty version of our battery

The 04's still use the older charge system, if you are adding a radio and are also running passing lamps, I highly suggest you upgrade the stator and rec/reg to an "05" or newer. My charge system could not keep the battery adequately charged until I did the upgrade, now no issues.

Erb...did you just go with an OEM setup that was '05 or newer or did you go with aftermarket like Baron's?
