After all the advice given here i have decided to go with the V8 Chrysler lifters, here is a pic showing the 2 side by side. The one on the left is the Chrysler and the one on the right is the Yamaha one, the Chrysler lifter is a little taller however once the pushrods are in place the difference in height is negligible and can be compensated for by an adjustment of the rocker gear...............................
............................This pic shows that the difference in height is barely noticeable, and Yamaha Australia wanted $89.50 each compared to the Chrysler ones at $4.00 each. I personally dont see the $85.00 difference

I received my new parts the other day and decided to put the cams back in the bike today In this pic you can see that the old o-rings have become worn and lost their shape thus allowing the oil to blow back past the seal and reduce the fine spray of oil to the cam lobes.
.........................Before i started i removed the left foot board and cover to access the ignition timing marks so number 1 cyl would be a TDC.
..............................New cams in place, making sure they are in the correct alignment.
..............................Cam bearing housing cover now fitted.
..............................Cam timing and Crankshaft Driven gears now in place.
..............................Cam timing marks.
..............................Bottom end all back together now, I`ll have to wait a couple of weeks before i get a chance to finish off the top end...

Nice job rick. what I liked about doing the cams is you dont have to drain the oil.

Couple of things I'm curious about. In your second post, 3rd picture the cams are lined up perfectly. In the next picture the right cam appears rotated clockwise a little and still that way in the picture after. In the first picture of the cam and engine gear installed the dots aren't aligned but in the next picture they are.
My question is, did you turn the crankshaft to get the dots aligned, which would mean the cam timing is now off, or did you reinstall the gear to line up properly?
Also, I'm not aware of any adjustment that can be made to the rocker gear for a difference in pushrod height. If the pushrod is just slightly higher then the lifter will preloaded slightly more than the stock lifter.
I didn't see it smeared anywhere but hopefully you've got the cams smeared all over with cam breakin lube. Just saying.
Can't wait to see how everything turns out.

Tex,
I read your post and studied the pictures. Things appear to be just as you say, but by putting the driven gear back on the left cam, and turning the crank to get the crank and cam gear dots aligned, it does turn the right cam counterclockwise back enough to give the appearance of being in the place of perfect alignment as per picture 3 was... don't you think?

Yes but if the crank has to be turned to line the dots up then the piston is no longer at TDC. All the dots have to line up with the piston at TDC.

so whats the point of warrior cams in a standard road star? more lift and duration? what rpm range would yield max power with them compaired to the stocker cams

Yes, I hear what your saying but all is ok, when i tightened up the front cyl camshaft cover the front cam has rotated a little to the right but as long as the dots lined up when installed its ok, there are 2 keyways, one on the rear camshaft and one on the crankshaft so as long as the cam timing was done correctly in the first place and the next two gears line up on the keyways correctly there is no problem. When i tightened up the bolts on the rear cam and crankshaft everything has rotated a little and thats the only reason the dots dont line up in that pic. And they were covered in Molybdenum Grease.
On each of the rocker arms there is one adjustment nut and grub screw so you can adjust the rocker clearence to take up any difference in pushrod length, there really is almost no difference anyway and yes some slack would be taken up by the lifters but the adjustment nuts are still there...
