The Roadie is a softail alright like the Fat Boy but I would lean more towards the Heritage Softail Classic, the look is very similar, they’re like twins.

fatboy is in the softtail family
Don't know enough about Harleys to have known that. Learned something new today. Guess that means I can go home now (I am currently at work).

pretty much if you dont see the rear shocks its in the softail family but its like most of the hd models, add or take away one thing and its a whole new model

not bashing at all just my observations

JBubbs said, "One thousand nine hundred and ninety nine years after the world was created," and so, that's what I was responding to.

Just clearing up a misunderstanding, that's all, fellas!

The funny thing is the R* are as just as much American as the Harleys everyone raves about. The stars were made in America I believe, maybe not all, but they were. Plus the new Harleys are 65 percent Honda parts now. Ask anyone who works at one of the Harley plants, like here in Kansas City, and they will tell you were the parts are from.

Wasn't it the "Harley Extra Historic Hyper-Glide Delux Soft Tail Bald Eagle American Fleming Skull Edition"?
You can't beat Harley when it comes to making up cool names.

I'm sorry, Lord, please forgive me. Sometimes I just can't stop myself.

i have a dvd here somewhere on how and where they make roadstars, and they are built and assembled in the harley factory to save on shipping costs because they
have such a huge market in the USA and according the the dvd they out sold every model in the softail range in the year 2000 im not shaw about other years the dvd
was made in 2000 i got it with my bike. i can say tho that i done a rebuild on my old v star and the pistons had HD stamped on them and a HD part number as did
connecting rods and a couple of other parts. and it had never been rebuilt before i got to it. and as for my roadstar it has made in USA stamped on the frame and engine
it is a 2000 model.

I bought a 2003 last year, here in the U.S.A. but the frame say's made in Japan. many moon's ago...when Harley was made by A.M.F. the Japanese bought A.M.F. and then the H.D.riders couldn't really say'
anything...that was like salt in a wound that wouldn't heal.
other then them saying...the money stayed in the U.S.A.
When I worked in the oilfields back in the 80's,I sometimes flew in choppers out to offshore drill ships, one time we were out in the gulf of Mexico and came across a foundry ship and I asked the pilot what was that,He replied it was a Japanese foundry that was buying our scrap steel and making casing pipe that"we"the U.S.A. use in the wells that we drill. when we got to the drill ship they were unloading Nippon pipe, which said made in Japan, and was foundry made in the gulf of Mexico...they were throwing all the waste right off into the gulf.
Now I work for a U.S.company that was bought by the Germans and the only thing that I see them worried about is the dollars, don't spend any money and make a huge profit.
