Easyrider- yamaha discontinued the entire Speedstar line back in 2010. There are several dealers and third parties still selling remaining stock. Several of us at RSC have ordered them from a dealer on eBay. They were $250 with free shipping. They had 10 available back in December . When I get to a computer I'll add the eBay link if it's still up. At $250 they were a steal...

Bob this is the Ebay dealer we got ours from (yamahaonestopshop) but I didn't see any more. By the way did you get any more AF numbers. And did you get any with the AIS pluged.

I have the Speedstar Long Drag pipes on my R* now. They look and sound great!
I wimped out and had someone install them. When I fired her up my first thought was "Holy Crap"!
Then rode off grinning.

These pipes seem honkin' loud but I love the deep growl.
I was thinking about making a secondary baffle. Maybe attach it just inside the pipes where end caps would be installed.
That would be actually attached to the heat shield and protruding a bit into the the exhaust pipe.
Is this possible?
Smartpartz makes secondary baffles but they tell me that I must remove the the existing baffles and install the
Smartpartz baffles onto the existing baffles [if I understood them correctly].

What say y'all?

Thanks.

Did you order them from yamaha? I checked their website but could not find them. I was trying to find the price of them.

Sorry, I was out all day.
As Walleyewizard said, I to purchased these at yamahaonestopshop on ebay. Couldn't pass it up.
Great sounding pipes.

I just installed those Speedstar Long Drags on my 09 a few weeks ago... I love that loud and deep rumble they produce... Are you wanting a secondary baffle to quiet them up a bit or are you just trying to change the tone, etc. ??

Yeah, I too like the deep rumble. I would like to quiet them down just enough to stop the occational backfiring when changing gears. I can control it a bit with throttle control. Also, I creep out of my neighborhood aroung 5:30 am and think I can hear one of the neighbor's car alarm chirping at me.

Is your AIS gone?

All else is still stock. I will look at the Tech pages here for that. Thank you.

Walley- I haven't disco'd the AIS just yet... The A/F numbers I'm seeing continue to be in line with what I first noted.. In the mid 14's cruising in 4th and 5th with high 16's/17's at slower speeds all the way to 18 at idle..

I'll update that FI pos when I disco the AIS and get some numbers... btw- I love these Speedstar Long Drags!!
