Usually the fuel gauge if disconnected then connected (or bat disconnected) again will take a few miles of riding before it will register againHA!! I had to re-read what I had typed to understand what you meant!
I'm not surprised about the fuel gauge. Every time I fill up it takes a few miles for it to show that the tank is full. The dealership apparently didn't know this because they thought it was some kind of air lock in the fuel line.
