My friends, if a thread does not appeal to you, don't click on it! We should all be able to express our opinions, unless the moderator shuts it down. Which they have the right to do.

Gotta agree with Ricohoc. Too general of a topic area though I'm sure the mods are on top of it. We should be self policing but sometimes things go off track too fast.

I've just noticed that's it's very easy to get a thread locked by going in there and starting an uncivil, rude exchange. Then the thread gets locked and prevents the others, who were discussing it in a civil manner, from being able to continue to have a discussion.
I'd like to see those who create the uncivil dialogue have to deal with some sanction rather than the good suffering for the bad and the entire thread being condemned.
Just a thought and my two cents.

I like coming to this site to read the views on all sorts of topics, We are not one-dimensional beings, are we? This is a community of folks who share a common interest in one motorcycle, but the other aspects of our lives help us connect way beyond that. Folks say that religion and politics are too hot for these boards. Why? They are among the most important things we can discuss to learn and grow. So things get heated- so what? Aren't we all big kids here? If someone comes on and throws fireballs, I'm sure we all can take it with a grain of salt and move on.
Thanks mods for helping keep things civil, but a little fire-in-the-belly about something other than motorcycles never hurt anyone.

BO says he's a Christian. I've been a Christian for 39 years. I know what the Book says better'n most because it's been a passion of mine all those years. Like another has said, I've yet to hear or see anything from him to convince me he's a real Christian... the church he hailed from was anything, but a Biblical Christian church, and so I assume BO isn't either. (His church holds to "Black Liberation" theology, which is a radical, communistic "solution" for black African peoples)
His policies come from way out in left field, and seem to most closely approximate the radical agenda of those who mentored him, and with whom he most closely associated before making the White House. These were also communists and radicals.
He's a radical liberal, with no true regard for the Constitution.
As for where the Dow is... that's good ole Americanism at work, and somewhat succeeding, in spite of every gov't effort to hold it down.
Get the stifling regs and taxation that is shackling American industry out of the way, and just watch what happens then... jobs for every able-bodied American that wants to work. Not a U6 unemployment number of some 16% or more.
As others might comment or disagree, I'll chime in again, and state my evidences for my convictions, should it be necessary. I know what I'm talking about.

I do not know if Obama has a serious personal religious beliefs, nor do I care.
People who allow their religion to influence their politics are not a problem.
People whose Religion IS their politics scare the crap out of me.
The Dow is totally irrelevant to the overall state of the economy today. It no longer reacts to market forces but to government policies.
Yes, corporations are sitting on huge amounts of cash because they have no certainty as to government's long term policy. Too many people have bought the Liberal myth that corporations are the tools of some imaginary character like the Monopoly guy; sitting on piles of cash in tails & morning coat, lighting cigars with $1000.00 bills and swirling brandy snifters while they laugh about screwing the working guy. Sorry, most stocks are held by institutional investors like retirement funds and 401Ks. When you get revenge on those evil corporations you just f#@k over some poor slobs retirement checks.
Real unemployment in the US is in double figures. The housing crisis has not been touched as the bad loans and properties are still out there and nothing has been done about them. All government has done is shuffle a HUGE amount of cash thru it's friends.
We had no hand in the "Arab Spring" other than handing the Islamist extremists power in several critical nations. Ans can you really envision any President telling the Military NOT to take Bin Laden when they have the chance? There is NO WAY they could not have done that raid.
We have betrayed every nation that has stood with us, from Great Britain to Israel.
This is not because of his race or his religion but because of his extreme Left politics. And teh mainstream media have know his history and his policies and they have actively concealed it and managed coverage to protect and serve him. Research "Jurno-List" and see the name writers and producers who wer, are, involved. Jay Carney was one of the major players when he was at Time.

Questcap and BuffaloRider, you both make good points.
The cash -- personal and corporate -- is on the sideline for a reason, and you stated it well.

I'm in finance and investments. Buffalo stated it exactly right. US based multi-national corps are sitting on piles of cash... an historical record amount, for 2 reasons.
One, is US tax policy making it way too expensive to bring the cash back home to the US. We currently have either the highest, or the second highest corporate tax rates in the world, making it especially difficult for US corps to compete (and also makes the case for why they move so many operations off-shore in the first place).
And the second, is the ever moving target of new US gov't regs and policy on business, that makes it impossible for corps to plan for future business expansion, when they have no idea what GOV is going to do to them next!
They can't begin to fathom just what all this new health care bill is going to really mean to them, except that it's likely to be far more expensive to them than anyone in gov't has ever said that it would.
So, they can only do what makes the most business sense to them, and that's to sit on their cash and wait for all the shite to fall out.
