I need your tips and tricks... 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Looking to hear what you guys use for cleaning wire spoke wheels. What are your best tips, tricks and tools for getting them sparkling. Nothing looks better than spokes shining in the sun.
Was thinking there must be some sort of tool/brush to polish in between all of the spokes. Let me know what you use to get them looking nice.

1. Keep them clean. Road salts reduce the shine of the spokes considerably.

The Road Star spokes aren't chrome. But, there's no reason you can't keep them looking good. An alternative is to replace them with chrome or stainless spokes. But, it really depends on how sparkling you really want.

+1 on the spokes! Never cared for the look of cast aluminum rims! Always loved the look of spokes and Old School white walls!

There is unfortunaly no replacemenet for hard work work and elbow grease when cleaning them.

Wesleys Bleach White and a few SOS pads work best on the white walls.

And an old toothbrush, soap and water followed by some polish works best for me.

I have spokes and now that I have a bike lift it really makes cleaning them a lot easyer. I don't use any speacial cleaner but the fact that I can spin my wheels makes this chore a little better.

I saw some chrome spray-paint at the hardware store. I thought maybe I could just try it on my spokes and see how it looks.

Dang smokes! Where did you find her? My bike needs washing!

Back to the spokes though, try the SOS pads with the soap built it. Just wet em and scrub. They work good at getting surface rust off chrome too.

A baby bottle brush has worked well for almost 60 years for me. Lots quicker than a toothbrush.
