How do you know when the relay is starting to go bad? My 07 has been acting funny about the past week, when I press the start button it won't start, it doesn't do anything, like it's dead, no power no nothing. I press it again and it will start. I thought first it may be the starter button, but I'm not sure.

Relay don't usually go bad ....when they go bad they stop working completely... I believe there is some thing else going on with your r* check the battery volts and or loose cable.

Bad or dirty connections anywhere in complete starting circut-system is where i'd chk 1st.

Could in fact be bad connection at the start button itself or bad starter button-sw too.

Worn/burn contacts inside starter replay itself maybe not always allowing enough current flow to get the starter motor going each time you hit starter button resulting in intermittant starts.

Possible issue with starter itself too but not that likely in this case.

Another thing I've noticed about the new relay, and I don't know if it is related or not, but before I changed it, the gas gauge would engage, but always hang up and stay near the 'E' when I turned on the key. If I tapped it with my fist, the needle would rest where the fuel amount was in the tank.

Now when I turn on the key, the gauge needle engages completely and rests where the fuel amount is in the tank.

It's as if the entire electrical system has "perked up", if that's possible.

how long of a #4 cable do you need to reach the starter from the relay with the reversed connectors? If I'mma gonna change the relay might as well change the cable while I'm there.

I used Flamewires and didn't have a problem reversing the wires. No idea of the length.
