Well, some Stealth Mud teamed up with a sneaky Gravity Storm & they got me. One second I'm making the same left turn into work that I've made dozens & dozens of times, and the next second I'm sliding on my back listening to an awful scraping noise, thinking "WTF just happened???"

The 16 mile ride to work in the light rain was a joy, but that last 20 or so feet was a bitch! All I can say (once again) is that I'm a firm believer in leather jackets & helmets...I slid 10-15 feet & all I ended up with is a sore butt cheek where I hit the pavement. I think the rest of my body hurts from picking up the bike. And these bikes really ARE built like tanks...the damn thing was laying on it's side, idling as nice as can be. I guess the pavement was kind enough to kick it into neutral for me on the slide. I rode it home and got no shimmies, wobbles or anything else...just as smooth as ever.

All in all, the bike damage is not so bad, I guess...not even gonna bother to file an insurance claim because the deductible would be more than it'll cost me to fix it myself. It bent the stem of the left passing lamp, scraped up the Yami Big Bar pretty good & left the rear turn signal hanging by one wire. It twisted the mirror in, but it doesn't look bent so that's just an adjustment back to where it should be. I figure the turn signal can be fixed with a short piece of pipe insert to replace the one that snapped.







Oh well...another story to tell and another opportunity to tinker, I guess... Be safe out there!
