Longrides Recurve and distortion 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I just ordered a Longrides ultra recurve with a lite tint. Could any of you fellows tell me if the distortion where the recurve is bothers you?

Or is the distortion minimal?

By the way, those seem nice guys to deal with down there, the fellow I talked to was very helpful and he said I should have my windshield before the week is out.

I recurved my existing Memphis Shades shield to see what a recurve actually does and it made a big difference, of course the distortion was terrible on it. Too be expected if you torch one of these things.
Seems the faster you go the better they work.

To be honest, if you ordered the proper height, you should be looking over the windshield, so any distortion would be unimportant. And if it does annoy you, I'm sure you'll get used to it after enough miles. If not, I don't think it's the windshield that's your problem...

i seam to remember ozarkpreacher has that windshield and the curve was right in his eyesight and he couldn't see worth a darn, he cut it shorter and now he is very happy. so i guess just like doc_v said if you can look over the shield you should be fine

Cameras Broke Rev. but I just marked where I wanted to do the recurve and went to work with a map gas torch, then grabbed it with a my welding gloves and began to roll it in my palms back toward me.

I fogged it a little by getting it too hot. me I ain't got much patience and it does take patience to let it heat up.
While its hot enough to recurve it also wants to return toward its original position so you have to kind of keep pressure on it until it cools.

Yeah Smokes, my windshield is the 9 inch I got from Shades and it is just right.
The guy told me I should order the 10 inch shield. Even if you gotta lower it, all you have to do is drill more holes though.

River, what the LRS site recommentds is that the tip of the windsheild be level with your mustache area. With that being the case, you look over the top and will not even notice the curve. At least I don't. Kai

Yeah, I just wondered if these guys had worked out a way to reduce the distortion, it don't make a whole lot of difference as I look over the windshield anyhow.
Can't wait to try it out.

I have a Scorpian half shelf with a flip down visor. The visor is made out of rather thin plastic and it don't take much wind to vibrate it. Its my favorite helmet too.
I wish they had made a thicker shield for it. The recurve will kick the wind a little higher. I ordered the Ultra.

Yep, cut mine down about 1.5" and it is perfect. I went from hating the shield because of the distortion to not even noticed.
