Sold my 07 and took a beating because I had so many extra's on it. I kept 05 because I had so much work in it it would be like selling half of myself. Hard to say but if you like making stuff new like I do ..... well instead of another bike I got and old bass boat now it is almost done so what next .... maybe an old car?

If you're getting enuf money for another R* or whatever other bike you want I think I would sell. 85k miles isn't a lot for a R*, but, you have to admit, if you could get one with fewer miles I think you would be ahead in the long run....JMHO

Don't got a lot invested in mine but would still hesitate selling it outright. However, (ain't there always one of these?) I'd look at it as an opportunity to make another one my own. Definitely another R* BTW.

Dragoon, it's your decision, and only you can decide.
You did say "if" you were to sell, so talk with him
and make your decision.

Be careful what you ask for.

Back when I did photography work on the side people would approach me to photograph weddings. Weddings are a royal pain in the rear, trust me on this. So I'd quote ever higher and higher prices. People would pay it and I'd have heart burn the entire time I was shooting. I finally priced the last one so high that the bride to be asked me if I was trying to charge so much that nobody would hire me. I looked her square in the eyes and said "Yes!". I never shot another wedding again and was glad about it.

Point of the story is that if you quote it there may actually be someone out there willing to pay it. Would I sell the bike? In a heartbeat I would. Even though I had poured some of my life into it via custom work and might have had some emotion invested, I would let it go. My time and emotion can be bought for the right price Cash is King!!
