I have to share this story.
I took my bike to the NASCAR races a few weeks ago in Kansas City. Stuck it on the back of our RV and made the trip down.
Anyhow...several folks came over and and were 'oohing and ahhing' over the really cool Harley. One kid says to his dad 'look dad...it doesn't even say Harley on it!'
Should have seen the looks on their faces when I told them it was a Roadstar. The few knowledgeable ones realized it was a Yamaha, but most still thought it was a cool looking bike!
One guys said...wow that looks just like a Road King. Ya think?

i have a dvd that i got with me roady it is part of the stock owners manual and servoceing records, it shaws how they are built and stuff and in the dvd it shows them being built in the HD factory. and when my engine was pulled down to put the big bore kit in it had HD stamped on most of the parts. including the pistons and rods, and the crank cases's.

For Me, these day's and in this economy, It doesn't matter where the item was made as long as the Quality is there and you are happy with what you purchased. Most "Foreign" vehicles (ie; Toyota, Nissan, KIA) are made right here in America. Toyota Trucks and Camry's are made in Hayward, CA at the United Motors plant, it's an old converted Chevrolet Truck plant, heck my Nissan Quest was made in Canton, MS. So bottom line, it don't matter what you ride, or where it was made, it only matters that you enjoyed the ride, and keeping it safe.

Well said and this from a GM guy but most of the parts I install are not made here anymore either

I think HD's are great bikes and I'd probably own one if they weren't the same price as a CAR Payment.
I'd like to know how people afford Harley's too. Some of these characters riding them look like they don't have 2 pennies to rub together.
Seriously though, If I ever bought an HD, The last thing I would do is start pi$$ing on the next guys bike because it's not an HD.

I would be interested in seeing this mysterious DVD also, from the R*'s I have been into or seen tore down there are no H-D parts. I have a Harley and the parts in it don't have HD stamps either. Take a tour of the H-D assembly plant in York, PA. I bet you a chicken dinner they are not building R*'s there.
