Erdody or Ultimate seat? Which to buy? 1 Year ago
Got some extra money today from selling some stuff and I want to buy a good long ride seat. Based on everyone on the Clinic I've got it narrowed down to one of these two. I'm looking at the rider and passenger seats, I dont need or want the rider backrest nor the passenger backrest right now, may add them later.

I'm 6'0" with 34"inseam and 240lbs..... I want leg room and do not want to sit up on the tank.
I have a Stiletto Solo that I love the looks of and I love that it sits low, but it puts me on the tank and it's only good for 50miles or so, after that I get the monkeybutt

So I guess this is what I'm looking for.
1.Comfortable for 200-300mile rides
2. Flows with the lines of the bike, looks good from a profile side view
3. Sits low, in the bike, not on it
4. Plenty of leg room, does not put me on the tank

Give me your votes ol' seat guru's of the Road Star Clinic!
Also if anyone has a good used one they want to let go, let me know! I'm cheap too so always looking for a deal!

i don't own either, but i am going to get the ed seat. i'm tall and from what i've read, the big touring seat sounds good. also, i'm pretty sure i read that you can buy the padding and leather for the seat for about $200. chiefriceburner can verify. i can re-use the seat pan and save $100 or so. as soon as i have a few hundred $s that can slip under the old lady's radar, i'm placing my order

yup you are right. if you have the stock saddle you can undo the seat cover and pull the foam and everything right off the seat pan and slip the new one right on and staple away. there is a thread on it somewhere shouldn't take but 20-30 minutes or less start to finish

My complaint about the stock seat was the same as yours, feel like you are riding a motorcross bike you are so up on the gas tank. The Ultimate sits same or a little lower than the stock seat which IMHO doesn't get you off the gas tank. I bought the ED big tour with the passenger seat that has a backrest built in, to me thats the best way to go. Sits higher than stock which moves you back off the gas tank and hundreds of miles in a day is a breeze. I thought it was hard to spend the money, but its the best money you will ever spend on your bike and worth every penny. Dont be skimping here. Do a search here for ED seats and you should find the pics you want, I know they have been posted already.
