I am saying the best way to get to the bottom of the motor to fish a dowel pin is through a hole behind the clutch basket. That is if my memory is correct. Not sure of the clearance. Was it a front dowel pin that was missing or a rear? Think the hole behind the clutch only works for something dropped in the rear as there is a ridge below the crank.
