Nice fab work you did there for the brackets! Your bike is coming to look awesome! I got the bad dad brackets but they make the bags look a little funny, maybe down the road you can fab me some brackets. Of course I would pay for them.

If we can manhandle them into shape, I'm sure we could possibly work something out.

Your bike is looking great!

We may consider a premium paint job in the future. I like the look of the batwing too.

Well geeze, after what seems to be an eternity, the saddlebag bracket fab-work is complete.

They're not pretty, but once they're painted (satin black) they'll be perfect.

Since my friends and I are not qualified to have even built such monstrosities, I believe they came out pretty OK. We were way off in our calculations and had to compensate by welding extra tubes on top of the main support bars.

Also, the welds were not very nice looking either, so we "fixed" them them by grinding and filling with some Magic Mender (Bondo, Magic Mender sounds so much more exciting). They're super solid and will definitely do the trick.

I could be in for a set of your brackets if you decide to build more

The fender is called the "Road Star "B.Y.O.B." Bagger fender" for $350 found here:
http://www.sscustomcycle.com/products/bodyshop/roadstar.shtml

And the bags are SSCC Road Star Standard Bags for $600 found here:
http://www.sscustomcycle.com/products/accessories/Saddlebags.shtml

The site is SS Custom Cycle. I ordered them on back on March 3rd, and it took nearly 4 weeks to arrive at my door. I really love the lid/hinge system and I think the bags and fender look really awesome. The left bag doesn't exactly match the right one, some dimensions are off. I don't think it's something anyone will ever notice, but we had to make the brackets (I wasn't about to pay $400 for theirs) to compensate for this.

I'm not sure we will be able to make more, but if there is enough interest, I'm sure we'd consider it. Now that we've worked out the kinks. The thing is, we made these brackets specifically for the bags I ordered and so that there was enough room for my wife to rest her feet on the pegs. If we were making brackets for a specific brand of bags only (i.e. HD bags) then it's possible to replicate accurately.
