Saw an HD old school/hot rod looking bike 1 Year ago
scream past my house this morning while I was getting into my truck, and the guy was wearing skid lid, tank top, shorts, flip flops.

Holy cow! Even my 28 year old (non-motorcycle) daughter who was pulling away from the curb re stopped and asked me if I saw what that guy was wearing. She said, guess he's not planning on crashing.

I said, yea, I'd rather sweat then bleed.

So I was wondering, riders that do that kind of stuff (and other dumb things like tailgate, etc) are those the kind of guys who have never been down before?

I know, to each his own, but it just doesn't seem very smart. It's just my opinion.

I see that a bunch. Mostly on sport bikes, but still quite a few middle aged folks on big bikes.

It's crazy but I see it a lot too. I may not wear as much protective gear as I should but shorts and flip flops? Never, Never, Never!

I do it alot making short trips to town or to a friends house or whatever. Shorts, flip flops, t-shirt. It's freaking hot and humid in FL and I ain't gonna put jeans and boots on for a short trip to get something only to come back home and change again. And no I never wear a helmet, never.

Only time I have ever wore shorts was when I was at myrtle beach bike week heading to the pool or the ocean. But flip flops? Would only take one time for a flip flop to flop over and down you go at a light.

I got to admit I never wear protection... skid lid, t-shirt, tennis shoes. I'd wear shorts but I hate getting burned by the pipes.

My safety plan is to not crash... if I do, I do

you only live once might as well make a go of it

I'm enjoying everyone's candor and honesty. Clearly, two sides of the coin...both make sense to me.

Saab9k, freaking nice trike!!!!
