THE DARK SIDE !!!!!!!!! 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I know. I know,,,, a lot. Of you are so tired of herding about car tires. Please just give me a few minutes to update .
I purchased a austone taxi tire ,175R16. I took it to a local bike shop and had it mounted . Took 40psi tp seat and was very easy to balance. The austone is a little taller then the mc tire by about 3/4 of an inch,it fits the fender well very nicely with no modifications.
From the first ride up until now 100 miles later .it is really a great ride.i kinda took it easy the first time out so that there would be no surprises.took it around town just feeling it out. I have a road near by that is kinda winding, so I took it there and rode it just like I normally do.it felt really great handling the curves.my second time ,I took the curves all faster ,normally I would have to let off or brake on some of the curves but it felt so comfortable as I went into each curve ,I just kept my line.i was really surprised but still skeptical.
The next thing I did was get on the interstate and try it out for any vibration.i took it just above the speed limit (70mph) and rode it for about 15 miles until I got where could open it up a little more. I got into it pretty hard and got it up to 100 and stay there for a couple minutes the let off .i was smiling from ear to ear when I didn't feel any vibes what so ever.
I am running 34psi in it now and will adjust as I need depending on what I feel and see .
I also mounted a Pirelli rear tire on the front in reverse direction. Wow ,if you want to fill your fender well up front that will do it.have the air set at 38 psi.
With the rear tire being taller and the front also being taller I have raised my bike about a inch. I did the flip on my bike several months ago.,but it still feels very comfortable. My speedo has always been off especially after i changed the front sprocket. With the new tire it has now brought my speed back to within 2 mph, much better then the 7-9mph off that it was before.
So if any one out there has thought about it or tried other ct,and you still want to give it a try I would highly recommend the auston taxi tire.
I am writing this on the wife's I-pad so as soon as I can I will post a few pictures of the new tires. Honest guys this is a really great tire from what I have experienced so far.

SMOKINJOE, I assume you are running this on a R*.
How much clearance do you have between top of fender, and the sides.
Did you find it local or over seas?

Thanks

the front tire fits very nice and tight and the rear i must have a fair amount there too since i have done the flip and i haven't bottom out yet. now for the sides i have about a 1/4 on both sides before they hit the reenforcement bar for your eye brow.
yes i am running this on a 05 roadstar. i purchased them off of e-bay from universal tire. i think i paid 152 and 13.00 for shipping.
i'll take a few pictures of the clearence and let you decide if it is enough for you . i am pretty sure if you have a hidden trailor hitch ,you won't have enough room . i really like the fact that there is a tire for the roadstar that is actually taller and not shorter then the original.

I'd do the CT thing, but I don't want a taller tire, but one as close to our standard tire as possible... does any usable CT meet that criteria?

Looks like that's the one for the Road Star. The problem has always been the 3 1/2" rim. The speed rating is only 99 mph but that's at its full weight capacity. Might work for me since I'm not interested in the high speeds anymore.
