Re-oiling and assembling Maxair filter element 1 Year ago

I finally decided to take my Maxair foam air element off, clean it, and apply new oil.

I took the foam element out of the screen to make cleaning easier. It seems tough to get it centered back in the screen. And fitment looks critical as uniform seal around edge in necessary.

Anyone have some tips - other than walking away from it after first try?

And shoul I oil before reassembly or after? Is any oil OK?
