Head Fuse Keeps Blowing??? 1 Year, 1 Month ago
|
|
|
I have a 2000 Roadstar And 4 days ago the bike wouldn't start. I checked all fuses first. They were all fine at that time. It was clicking at the Starter relay. So I took the starter relay off and had it checked. They said it was fine and that it was probably my battery. So I put a new battery in it and it started right up but none of the lights were working. So I checked the fuses again and the head fuse was blown? I have gone over the bike several timnes looking for the problkem. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Have you replaced the fuse and had it blow again or was it just blown and you are trying to track down the cause?

Replaced it like 4 times. Blows as soon as the key is turned on without signals on.

You have a fault to ground, probably a shorted wire. Trace that line baqck and inspect the cables real good. More than likely insulation rubbed off somewhere causing the short.

could be in the headlight bucket that there is a hot wire touching to ground. A fuse that blows right away is a dead short, no if's and or butts about it.
Also, if you are using running lights, and running it off the headlight circuit, there could be a short in one of those wires to ground.

I'd recheck that light bar you just installed. I'd be willing to bet the short to ground is in there somewhere.

It still blows with the light bar, and head light disconnected.
