My older brother would love to talk with your son if he's that analytical with his sports! One of my former co-workers has a 28 year old autistic nephew who works for Texas Instruments as an electronics engineer. He proof reads customer spec PCB and microchip designs before they are built. I can mentally imagine everything that happens in a Cessna 525B CitationJet when you move the landing gear handle down, but It amazes me that anyone can look at a PCB and grasp everything that is happening without a schematic!

The young man is paid well.

My son is finishing up 2nd grade right now and is popular in his "regular" reading class because he does it with 4th graders! His math is coming along great this year, and science has always been strong.

My son was reading at a 6th grade level in 2nd grade, unfortunately he didn't comprehend what he was reading, meaning he could properly pronounce all the words and read it but, if you asked him what it meant he didn't know.
I don't know how your school system is but, here in CA there are a ton of programs to help kids with Autism but, the school officials won't tell you about them and sometimes even tell you they are not available. I hired a Child Advocate and brought them to our school meeting and was amazed at how much their attitude changed and how many things we were able to get for our son to help him. Now we help other parents get the same things for their kids. (the school hates us )
Just do your homework and don't accept what they tell you. My son would not be where he is today without the help he got starting in kindergarden.

Acatually our school here in Red Oak Texas has been fantastic with letting us know what is available. Of course, the pediatrician, Dr. Kimberly Sweet, and the folks at Our Children's House @ Baylor in Waxahachie have been very good as well. I know people that are having issues in other districts, but everyone has been very forthcoming for us. I understand the reading comprehension thing. Jesse is getting much better at that with some training from us, and the school as well.

Man....... My wife and I were speaking not three days ago about how so many people dont know what we're going through.I didnt think my brothers on the RSC were gonna chime in. Gabriel is very similar, and yes Im greatful to have him. His heart is so pure it kinda keeps you grounded you know. Reads like a runaway train speech therapist helps alot with that. I gotta hide all my tools or he will take apart everything in the house to see the circuit boards and capasitors and transistors . He is amazing. It is tough at times with all the appts and you do have to fight for them and be in the schools face. All they wanna do is say all kids have ADHD and give em a blue pill and forget about them. I too remember when he began kindergarten he did not speak sentences. Now he's in the sixth grade this year for the first time he has almost all mainstream classes and is an A B student. Its alot of work still and things are almost always on HIS TERMS but the sky is the limit. I saw a sign once that said "Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." -A.Einstien Thanx guyz!

We went thru the school thing as well. My daughter was a single mom at the time he started school and she had to sign a waiver for me to go down and meet with the powers that be and make then understand what was going on with Ethan.

They had basically nothing for him as far as programs for special needs children and it took some long and difficult meetings with several trips down there but have come along way in the 7 yrs he has been there. He is in regular classes now and doing well.

Glad to hear all you other guys children and relation are thriving as well.

When my son was diagnosed with Autism at 5yrs old our doctor and a so called Autism specialist said we better get used to the fact our son would never amount to anything, he would be permanently locked in his own world, probably not speak and we needed to get him on some medication right away to make him more "managable" Thank God we ignored them and started doing research and talking to other people who had kids with Autism. Today if you met my son you wouldn't know he had Autism until you talked to him for a few minutes.
