Thats what my battery was doing when it went bad. It would start to crank over then pause a second and go again. Did that for about 2 Weeks then wouldnt even try to crank.

Yeah... I don't want that to happen to me... I live out in the middle of nowheremountainville and some areas don't have cell service

I upgraded my Ballistic lithium battery to their 16HD (I had issues with the first one...I'll be posting about that and how excellent Ballistic's custom service is).

The 16HD is a beast - Pulse Cranking Amps: 500 CCA. It's pricey but performs extremely well and is warrantied for 3 yrs. Recommended.

Re:Hard Starting 1 Year ago
My 99 Silverado has been doing exactly this for over 4 years, especially when hot!! Start to crank, pause, then starts right up. Even recieved a batt as a b-day gift, but never installed it. Batt still holds charge for more than a month. Recently cleaned all stator and regulator connections because of low voltage at batt terminals, and a little bit of a "roll her downhill and pop the clutch in 3rd" after stopping at a store following a 45 min hiway ride. Now getting 14V at the batt terminals again. Still need to test ride it for about an hour or two to verify proper charging. Ron in MD
