My Project 1 Year ago
This will be about the ups and downs of buying my mystery bike. I call it that because I bought it from an estate sale, and have no info about it, but the price was great.

So far it has been a challenge, went and picked it up, and not feeling adventuris, I decided to just trailer it back the 60 miles to the house. On loading the bike, the ft tire kicked sideways and the bike fell, hitting the tank on the corner of the trailer, denting the tank and chipping the paint. Well there's the first ding, now that thats over with time to get to work.

I knew the rear brake did not work, thought maybe it needed bleed, or the master was out, but was i surprised when I found the previous owner had tried a futuristic mod, the wireless rear brake. I call it that because there is nothing between the master and the caliper, just bolts plugging the holes. Parts ordered, be in in about a week.

The fuel guge doesn't work, will tackle that later. The bike will crank but not start without a jump first thing in the morning, battery charging, hope that works or a new battery is in my future.

Things to look foward to: Bike sitting in the inlaws gargage till I can get room made this weekend, left oil drops on the floor (o'boy did I hear about that), Bike H longshots (no baffles, one was in the saddlebag), and the title shows it came from TX last year and the odometer changed about 2500 miles. Since the bike now lives at 9000', and will mainly be rode between 5000' & 10,000', I see some jetting in my future. Bought some oil, filter, gear oil, and spark plugs. Need to get the garage cleaned out, anyone know goodwills hours (just kidding honey)

Will post some pics as soon as possible.

Jim

Sounds to me like a great project. Maybe one day I'll have more time to tackle a project like that. For starters (if you haven't done so yet) I would drain and change all fluids including the fuel and soak the fuel system with a good dose of seafoam. Keep us posted.
