anybody order a Silverado wide repl windshield? 12 Months ago

Looking at replacing the OEM Star windshield on my 2003 Roadie. The one I am interested in says it is a direct bolt on to the Silverado models--three inches wider.

Do you just get the clear windshield or do you also get the chrome pieces already mounted as illustrated in this OEM Star web page?

At that price just the clear shield. CeeBailey's also does roadstar windshields and they are good.

I bought one of those in tall. It is just the shield. Need to swap over your chrome. SD

Cee Baileys is acrylic, last I checked. OEM is polycarbonate. I wondered about that too. My original shield is toast.

Stick with the polycarbonite. The plexiglass can shatter and fly apart much more easily.

Stretched acrylic does have som impressive impact resistance, but if you lay one on the ground, you can get shards breaking off an acrylic, and I also worry about fatigue cracks around the screw holes, as aircraft acrylic windows are prone to them. Would be going polycarbonate for sure. $0.02

My 07 is cracking from the bolt holes out and I too am looking for a replacement. Have had many replies and sugestion here on the forum. From what I have seen Yamy's parts descriptions lack a lot of specifics. But have learned here to stay away from acrylic. Check E-bay, they had one with all the chrome awhile back for a decent price.

I was reading some archives on this message board earlier this evening about polycarbonate vs acrylic. Looks like the OEM polycarbonate will be my best bet
