I was one of the lucky ones, 21 years in the Navy and no major war or combat, but we trained like it was tomorrow, every day.
USN (Retired) 1977-1998
Memorial day to me is a great time to remember all of those who served, all of my friends and co-workers who I had so much fun with and those who never made it home.

The freedoms and liberties we enjoy in this country, were bought and paid for with the sacrifices of individuals who have served in this countries military, and their families, for the last 200+ years. The lack of appreciation and almost complete lack of understanding of what it takes to protect our freedom, and make this country safe, which is exhibited by so many who are in high places of authority in this country, is heartbreaking.
On memorial day, we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect freedom here at home, and around the world in many places, who, whether they choose to accept it or not, depend on the United States military to protect them.
