Intake manifold 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Does anyone have a technical drawing of the intake manifold?

I'd like to look into producing an all-metal unit that is already ported out and ready to go. I can apply "fixes" to the stocker, but it's a band-aid.

I feel like the Road Star community needs an option again.

I tried to do it and it is a really complicated part to do. After a lot of thought I came to the conclusion that the ported stocker is best 1 because it flexes and would seal better after surfaced. Also the stocker does not transmit heat like the metal one does. I have chopped them up and tried to mate with the HD manifold and a few other things and still haven't found a good replacement for the stock ported. Replacing one every 5-6 years is no big expense and they do perform well.

I'm wondering about a silicone based moulded part with metal reinforced attach flanges for the cylinders. May be impractical, but I'm finding some new resources on this Constellation project, and some ambitious engineers and companies that are looking for diverse opportunities.

Silicone is way to soft as it is you can see the rubber manifold flex inward on the intake stoke on the OEM manifold with silicone it would almost collapse I am sure. That s why I was trying to come up with something like the HD manifold where you have 3 pieces.

Just an idea. I remember in the late '90s early '00, there was a company making chevy valve covers out of a "super" plastic, was billed as being as strong as metal but lighter and didn't transfer heat. Again just a thought.

I was actually intending on fiber or wire reinforced construction to cope with the intake vaccum with minimum distortion.

I talked to my instructor about this, but no one does castings in the Tampa area, but he thinks there might be other ways to accomplish it. Now I'm sorry I gave my old stock manifold away.
