I went with the thunderfire starter. It's a great piece. Turns the bike over amazingly fast & has a nice chrome finish as well. Best of both worlds. I'm very happy with mine. You won't regret it.
i second your opinion.. did the same with mine plus the wires, warrior relay and a 310amp battery..man does this bike turn over fast.. and the chrome starter looks great in a spot where there is little chrome on the motor.. well worth the price.. the stock setup would strain when the heat was raging outside.. the wires they use are puny next to the flamewires.. go with thunderfire !!

I second, third and fourth that suggestion!

I did it and never looked back, but for optimum starting firepower I also added the MaxAir Flamewires and the Thunderfire starter. It has made all the difference in the world for me. I've never looked back or regretted it.

My recent starting problem had nothing to do with any of those components. It was a loose connector in the headlight bucket.

What connector was it...I'm getting intermittent starting probs..that sound more like electrical...today I had nothing the first time I hit the starter button..then a slow wind and finally engine started..the reason I ask is that I've been doing work up front all winter while installing batwing, tunes, modulator, gauges etc..

The connector on mine that had the very small "play" in it is chocolate brown with six prongs. I cleaned them all though, and put dielectric grease in all of them.

The "play" in the loose connector was less than 1/32 of an inch. Very small, but that's all it took to shut everything down. I used a zip tie to keep it firmly closed until I could replace it with a new connector.
