Have you tried pulling 1 fuse at a time to see if you can narrow down what circuit is causing the issue? Or unplugging 1 switch at a time to see if you are getting feedback thru a bad switch? This is an okay way to do it, but I'd pull them all and start putting them back in one at a time until I found that naughty one.... in case it's more than one, but I think this is a relay issue.

I'm not too keen on the actual problem though. Everything works until you apply the either brake, then it goes off. I get that. Now, when you release the brake, does it go back on, or does it only go back on when you shut the bike off then turn it back on? In other words, how do you get it back on? When did this start happening?

BTW, here is your wiring diagram.... or at least it should be close.

Also does this occur with the key in run or only with the bike running, or both?

Jonathan, the speedo, fuel gauge, netrual light comes back on a few mins after i release the break. but, the speedo and fuel guage is way off. example: i had about 1 gallon of fuel, gas gauge said tank was full. going about 45/50 mph speedo read 70-110 mph a few times it maxed out too. both finally come back in 15/20 mins to normal speed & fuel. but, as soon as i apply the brake, turn signal, or hit the horn. everything cycels again to being wayyy off.

I don't know if this advice will help but I posted a electrical problem a couple of weeks ago about my compression release solenoid chattering and the bike losing all power for about a minute. While no one here had a idea where to go I think I found my problem and it also may be yours.
At idle with my passing lights on the charging/battery voltage dropped below 11 volts and the computer was chattering the compression release solenoid. It also shut the bike down completely. I had no lights, starter, or any other electrical functions. It would reset in about a minute or two. I found if the passing lights were on at low idle this would happen. While chattering if I accelerated the engine it would correct itself.
It seems the system has a low voltage protection system. It sounds like you are borderline with your battery/charging voltage and it is shutting down the system when you hit the brake pedal. Try running the bike with a battery charger attached and see if the problem goes away.
Again, I don't know if it will correct your problem but it did correct mine. G'luck

rballew this really sounds like you are losing a ground somewhere. I would do what Curt suggests and trace every black wire and take it loose, wire brush it and clean the contact points and make sure they are all tight. Check any solder joints where grounds are tied together as well. Even if this doesn't work then hopefully by the time one of the other guys gets there you will be that far ahead of the game but I am really thinking it will be in the ground system.

good luck. If I was closer I would come and help you run some traces.

thanks for the advice. i've already disconnected the passing lights and the rear harness. I still not getting any signals on front, horn, or gauges when turning the switch on.
