To get to the "spring", you will have to remove the clutch cover on the left side....have you purchased a replacement gasket for the clutch cover as well? It will require you to drain your oil before removing the cover.

Besides the spring, there have been some members who have cured shifting problems by lubing the shifter pivot shaft where it goes thru the bracket by the left foot board. When that shaft gets dry, it causes the shifter to bind and makes gear changes difficult.
That's the first thing I though, but he said he already did that.

Re:Problem Shifting 11 Months ago
Last week finaly the spares came home. So yesterday morning i started disarming the clutch cover. Yes the problem shifting was caused by a broken sping in the stoper lever. I change it and woow, complete different bike!!

I really want to thank everyone that help me, i am starting with this bike and it looks like a keeper.

Muchas Gracias!!!

The Pirelli MT66 is a good front tire for you.

I do not know how much selection you have there, but I know the Pirelli plant in Brazil supplies most of the tires in Central and South America. The MT66 is not the most durable tire you can get, but as you mentioned, they are good over grooves, and they are good on wet roads, and I know you get plenty of that in Costa Rica!

Re:Problem Shifting 11 Months ago
Yep, the choices are few. I have a rear CST (chinese, that the prev owner installed new). But for example a dunlop (harley) cost near $200 and a Avon white wall is more than $300... And this price is for one back tire...

I have owned mt66 in my old virago 81, and was very good, the problem is that i wreck this bike 3 month's after tire install...

Here we have a lot of rain, but temp is between 14 and 31 in central valley, near the beach is higher almost 35 and higher...
