Firstly From Ipswich,Australia.
Secondly, I had the same problem when I first bought my bike and spent hours trying to get the seat unlocked till my darling wife came along and got it. She still reminds me about it.

Re:Seat does not unlock 1 Year ago
whats up guys im new here. however after buying a 2001 Roadstar and my brother buying a 2000 and spending 2 days i found a easy way to unlock the seat.

Mine was kinda easy.
with key off (DO NOT PUSH DOWN!) Turn to open, then turn somemore till the seat realeases it might feel as if the keys going to break. just know your strength and pay attention to the key

My brothers was tricky,

with key off turn to On (DO NOT PUSH DOWN) quickly turn to open till the seat realeases

i found it getting easyier after spraying some WD-40 on the seat latch. didnt try the key hole since i didnt know if it had contacts inside. but some type of electrical lube may work.

Its all i had handy but id use some type of silicone spray. it wont dry as quickly

after a few trys on both bikes it became so easy i could do it one handed.
