Im not argueing with anyone here or anywhere else on the subject of ”darkside” just gunna say what my insurance provider told me. Car tire = no coverage, period. Dot rated or not. Now im not sayin that all companies will do that just what mine told me. at that point I stoped looking into it cause if they tell me no coverage im not gunna risk it even if I could win it in court.

Change companies, I have progressive, and they have no problem with it. Did I call it a "Car Tire"? NO! I told them I was going to a wider tire, told them the size and MFG and that it was a DOT rated tire. They were good with it.

Its to late now unless there is a 18” tire out there that will work and his price is right. all my stuff is thru him house cars ect. I deal with the owner himself and the service is great. His office is clear on the other side of the state and any time I needed to make a claim he was there rignt to the end, giving updates and whatnot. He even drove 3 hours to get to my house a few times without even asking him to come over just all of a sudden he was at my front door making sure I had everything I needed. You dont find service like that anymore

What underwriter (actual insurance company) do you have?

Last week I the first close call,eyes wide open,butt clenching experience ive had in a long time. Im in the left turn lane comming to an intersection w/a red light. Letting off at about 50mph..coasting to the red light. All traffic was stopped except me in the turn lane. All of a sudden a semi w/no trailer...(Werner) decides he want to go to Bob Evans and from a dead stop pulls out at 90° right in front of me while I was at about 40-45 mph. Hit both brakes and im convinced ive never slowed down or stopped that quick with any mt. I belive I woukd have broadsided that tractor if I had a mt on. It def stopped me fast.

I followed him into the parking lot and as I pulled up he rolled his window down and was saying sorry ..his bad yada yada. I just shook my head and said ... Bro...your the last guys I expect to do something like that...your professional drivers! Then I just left. But it did put me back on high alert. Havent been scared like that in awhile.

Hmmm. I have Farm Bureau with a different agent. I even used "Car Tire" while talking to him about insurance coverage.

The fact that you have an 18" tire is no different than if you had a CT. It's modified from stock just the same. In your scenario of an accident, that Mod could be used against you just as easily.

If your agent, and this goes for anyone, wants to screw you over, they will. Get one you can trust, or get a GREAT lawyer.

OK I have another question. Decided to order my front tire, why did those you choose to go with the 150/80 on the front? Been riding mine with the 130 oem size front no issues but whats the thoughts on this. I am all ears. Also if I go with the 150 is the tube I have gonna work or should I get a new one.
