Maintenance on leather saddle bags. Shoe polish?? 11 Months, 2 Weeks ago
My bags are looking dull. I have been treating them with leather conditioner and that has made them plyable but they are dull. I was thinking of a can of Kiwi shoe polish and a brush to polish them up a little. What do you use?

Get some good black shoe polish. I bought some at Kmart awhile back that was bragging on the beeswax it had in it, and it worked well. This was softer then the Kiwi, and in a bigger tin.

The hubster hit his with Lemon Pledge and it brought out a wicked shine.

He also conditioned them and what not prior to doing the pledge.

thas the problem you can hurt real leather with wax and sun you need to be careful if they are real leather you will want an oil based product neatsfoot oil or the like and if needed a redye job if they are vinyl wich most production bags now a days are then you can use a wax type of product but you need to know the diffrence pledge does have a wax in it if im not mistaken pm me if you would like to know more but just know the type of material that your trying to work with and one other thing leather requires good upkeep to keep it nice so keep on em if they are leather....

I got mine at an antique store (not sure how old they are) but they are real leather. I've used shoe polish and it worked great!

I saddle soap mine every year when I get it out for the season. For the last 5 or 6 years Ive been using these Armor All leather wipes. Bags still look new to me, and thier 04s.
