Drained battery can I use car charger? 1 Year ago
Stupid me. Took my son for ride last night and when I got home I put kickstand out to shut it down and let him off but forgot to turn off key. It wasn't dark yet and I didn't see the headlight was still on.

So this morning the battery is drained. Can I charge with car charger on trickle - I think lowest setting is 2 amps? Or does Autozone or others do MC trickle charges?

Bike/battery is 4 years old. Wonder if it's going to be toast now?

I've charged MC batteries with a car charger. Maybe it will charge up and be all right. Killing it one time shouldn't kill it permanently.

2 amps will work but keep an eye on the voltage. Charge it for a couple of hours then disconnect, let it sit for 30 minutes. When the terminal voltage after sitting is at least 12.8 volts it's fully charged.

I think the maximum charge rate for our batteries is 9 amps for 1 hour. It's printed on top of the Yuasa batteries.

Car charger will work OK. Check the amp of the battery and divide by the charger amps. So if it's a 18 amp/hr battery and using a 2 amp charger - charge for 9 hrs. Voltage reading and load test will tell if it's toast. If fails the battery likely has a bad cell.
