the deer probably had other plans for the day 11 Months, 1 Week ago
I had other plans for the day, but this morning unfortunately I took on a deer head on. The good news is that God and His angels were looking out for me. I hit the deer at close to 60mph, lost control, went down and finally came to a stop 150 feet later. A driver behind me helped out and waited with me until other help came. I'm banged up with sprained fingers, a bit of road rash, sore muscles but no broken bones. I told the Dr. that I must have been doing some fancy gymnastics skidding down the highway because afterward while I was looking at my helmet, I realize thankfully that my helmet never touched the ground. I'm going to be OK; the deer is dead, but my dear bike looks very sad. I don't know quite yet what the outcome will be. My insurance coverage was only liability, so I'm on my own for repairs, or? It's gonna take a lot of patience and a bunch of $, but I dearly want to get her and me back on the road. It's too soon to say but I will probably be looking to replace the front end at least. It's a bummer because she used to be sooo pretty. At least I am not all busted up laying in a hospital. Thanks for listening.

Just be thankful that you are OK. I'm sure that when you see what needs to be fixed that the members here will be very helpful with finding spare parts to get you back on the road.

Man that sucks but glad you OK except for the rash and sore. Been there and done that what you see now is what it looks like after a years work. The insurance totaled mine but I couldn't let it go. You can rebuild so yell if you need some parts.

It sounds like the Lord really helped you on that one. Glad your okay when your ready to put the roadie back together if I can help with any parts I will.I'll tell you it's worth the extra to be fully covered espcially on a bike.

Really glad you are ok jahlers. You got a hall pass, be thankful for that. Be on the lookout for frame damage. Frame damage can be fixed, but no frame damage means bolt on repairs. If you have to replace your front end shout out here and see what the membership can help with. If your in california give me a shout and I will take you to where I buy stock pull offs cheap. Can't get everything you want, but what they have will be reasonable.

Takes Curts advice. Its repairable. They always are. I have bought two "totaled" Road Stars from wrecking yards and brought them back. Its actually fun if your not dying to ride it. Just need to decide if its worth to you vs. getting another bike.

Look at this as an opportunity to make the mods you want to make.

Really hope your out here (CA). I would want a piece of this to work on.

Glad you came out all right. I don't know what it is about deer, they sure can be suicidal. Get back on your feet and and then put the R* back together and keep on riding.

Wow. You have joined an exclusive club. Not many can say they survived such an encounter on a bike. Glad you are OK and let everyone know when you plan on repairing the scoot.
