Think I'd stick to the one that was designed as a drain plug.....and pick up a new one from the auto parts store before hand to replace it with. A good smack will get it loose , trust me..... BB

If there is a Sears store handy to you go there and get a combination wrench that is a 6 point on the box end, they are a little better than a 12 point wrench. Put the wrench on the plug and cut a piece of wood to jam between the frame and the drain. Then smack the wrench with a dead blow hammer!

Excuse my ignorance, but what are you referring to when you say a "dead blow hammer?" Is that a rubber mallet?

A dead blow is either rubber or plastic. It's filled with shot or bb's in the head. When you strike something with it it's like throwing all the weight of the stuff in the head at whatever you're hitting, plus the force "stays where you put it" instead of bouncing off like a regular steel hammer.

Thanks,

Interestingly enough, I was in a tool outlet yesterday and looking at an orange mallet such as the one you referred me to Musky, and I remember thinking to myself that it seemed to be filled with something... the shot I now know.

I think I will return and get one. I have had the unpleasant experience of bouncing a regular hammer off of something although, it only took once.

Once you get one you'll find yourself using it all the time.

I can see a bunch of hardware stores moving a bunch of dead blow hammers this weekend.
