My parents would not let the school spank me...because they wanted the to do it themselves. I was also warned that I would get at least twice as bad as any spanking in school and I knew they meant it. That alone was a major factor in keeping me straight when I was young.
School buses were totally different back then. I remember one brat who rode our bus was constantly getting into trouble. I saw the bus driver go back and yank him out of his seat by the back of the shirt one day. Then he carried him that way to the front, opened the door and then launched the kid out and left him there. We were only half way home. That bus driver kept his job. No bus driver will be allowed to do that today.
I think the biggest problem we have today is the way the children are raised. To many parents both work and let someone else raise their kids or do the time out, no spanking way. I was raised with spare the rod, spoil the child which was correct way in what I have seen in life. Sad to see it but I see it only getting worse. I also cringe to think the world my grandchildren are coming up in.
I will agree with on your views as I was raised with spare the rod spoil the child. I got my fair share of the belt and it didn't hurt me it made me a better person. I raised my boys (now 35&33) the same way. They got a belt when it was needed. If my boys when they were young had acted like this I would have beat their ass. But the one thing I must disagree with you on is the (To many parents both work and let someone else raise their kids)
Being a young couple it was necessary for both my wife & I to work if we were to have anything. But I assure you even though someone watched my kids till we got home from work they were raised with discipline and taught from an early age there were consequences for not doing things right. The problem with kids today is that stupid time out crap and too many parents who just sit back and don't teach their kids anything. The kids raise themselves. This baggy pant crap and hats worn sideways is ridiculous. In my generation you would have been called a moron for looking like that.
I agree with alot of people here I really don't know what this world is going to be like in the coming years. The generation of kids being raised now is horrible. At least I can say one good thing. My son is raising my grandaughters like he was raised, but I can't speak for anyone else's kids. Oh and I couldn't watch that video for more then a minute and I was fuming mad.

I should of added "....in a poor environment". I definately understand that some couples have to both work. I just dont think some of them look for the right environment/folks to be watching them.

I heard some of the kids are now being bullied and getting death threats! GOOD!! Karma is a BITCH!

2x THAT!
I just drove my school bus for the last day of this school yr and i gotta say all the things you guys are saying about the way todays kids act & the job many of todays parents are doing (or better said "are not doing!" is 100% right on target.
Sad thing is as a bus driver in todays world/USA unless a kid is shooting someone/setting the bus on fire/or punching out the bus driver theres not much todays school bus drivers can do about anything a kid does on the bus .
The fact is the bus driver will be canned ASAP if the bus driver takes things into his or her own hands even if the kid deserved what ever punishment the driver deemed appropriate for situation at hand that wasn't unfair or unsafe.
If its true that lady already has $300k and climbing in her charity acct if i was her i'd take some of that $$$$ to go after those snot ass kids & parents in court because its all on tape and she would likely get a decent settlement of $$$$.
I just hope i can last another 5-6 yrs in my semi retirement job as a school bus driver without quiting for obvious reasons or getting fired for telling some kid off before throwing in the towel @ 62.7 yrs old my SS activation age!
Thats when i can HOPEFULLY start pulling SS if they dont change my start date/yr by then or run out of all the $$$$ iv'e been putting into SS what will be 40-42+yrs working by then.

I am still pissed off about this. I hope all the money raised actually goes to her. At least she wont have to split it with attorneys.....no offense. They should be picketing outside the parents house.Community service would be a great idea for these little A-Holes......they wouldnt have an ounce of free time. I still cant believe the lack of respect out there....I work with the Safety Forces every day and they dont care if you are young or old....Police or Fire....none of it......so many times I would have liked to just kick one right in the butt. That is how I grew up....get out of line and get reminded where the line is. SIMPLE! I think I need to go for another ride!

This is what happens when a foolish society takes the powers from the parents and places in on the Children, I like a lot of you, was raised with the notion that if I screwed up I got the just punishment! I can remember doing wrong at a friends, his Dad whopped my butt, then My Dad whopped my butt again when I got home. Today We as a society have removed God, the Pledge of Allegiance, Corporal Punishment, and all Authority out of the Schools, Parents hands and given it all to the kids, Smack a kid, go to jail, let a kid smack you, and he is rewarded with Praise and you're labeled as a BAD PARENT! America has lost it's Common Sense and Moral Values!!!!

Parents today clearly lack the will to discipline...I have/am seeing it with 5 stepchildren (well 3 plus my current GF's 2)...and most of the blame, sorry ladies, falls on the mother's shoulders...nurturing has become more important than disciplining and that is just plain wrong...I was nurtured and disciplined...hard in both cases...my parents did everything they could to see that I had a comfortable childhood...they also did everything they could to make sure I did not turn out like those little POS...it was unpleasant at times, let me assure you. My stepchildren lack respect for their elders, authority, my home and my belongings...their mothers have, since 1996 collectively, essentially refused to take firm action to instill respect, preferring instead to blame me for being too stern and demanding because I believe in rules (you know like if you take it out put it away; if you make a mess clean it up; if you turn it on turn it off...horrible, mean things like that)...lest you think I am the only one in this situation, I am not...
I have many times seen a father start to discipline and a mother step in and coddle...again, sorry ladies but you are allowing a generation...maybe many generations, to grow up just like the little bastards in this video. To the men out there that coddle like women...HTFU, grow a pair and teach your kids right from wrong...raising good kids can be hard, dirty, unforgiveing work but in the end you will at least have the comfort of knowing they won't end up on the Internet with everyone wishing they could have 5 minutes alone in a room with the only rule being don't kill them.

In a word: Accountability.
Do what's right. Common decency. Do what you say you will do. Virtue.
Hard to teach those lessons when parents themselves don't follow those rules.
