I was reading in Technical Corner, and saw where someone mentioned Belt lube Pardon my stupid look, but I have never heard of this...I'm currently a first time belt drive owner.

Never heard of it. Owned this roadstar for 12 years...original belt with 23k miles. Sounds like muffler bearings and blinker fluid.

Same question crossed my mind, figured someone would ask! I just make sure mine is clean and tensioned, and that dad-gum front pulley nut is tight!

I've read where people will use wax or something similar to stop the chirping. But as long as your belt is tensioned right you don't need it. And +1 on the front pulley check!

I saw the same thread. The guy had issues with his alignment/rear wheel wobble, he found the tensioner not tightened down when he was oiling the belt. I thought to myself "that doesn't sound right at all."

You need to use a silicone type belt dressing to keep your belt clean and flexable. Otherwise you will eventualy develop a "whine" that is very irritating.

Way back in the day there was a product called belt dressing. You could spray it on your cars v-belts to quiet them. I can remember my dad using it on the car and the big squirrel cage fan on the A/C for the house. It shouldn't be needed on the R* but it isn't a complete myth either. I'm sure a lot of the older guys here remember it as well.

What's all this I hear about the front pulley? Is there certain years that are more affected? I've never put a wrench on my 2000 but I've never had a problem, either.
