I'm all about getting around/away from any hazards out there. Sometimes the throttle is your best friend, sometimes just pulling over is the wisest thing to do.

Last weekend had a cager pull a u-turn (oncoming) on two lane and I had to hit the binders good, riding two up. Then the idiot kept swerving around rubbernecking at side roads passed. Finally, after becoming a bit enraged at his erratic driving I blew my horn at the moron who then swerved into a turn area, he then backed up on the wrong side of the road (facing oncoming traffic) to a driveway. Unfrigginbelievable.

Only axle that can't run caps are the steer. Biggest reason they fail is underinflation, I run caps on my trailer, but I put pressure monitors on them. They are less than half the price of new rubber and in this economy you have to save a buck, or 200, where you can. I never waste any time passing big trucks

Truck tires freak me out. On a side note, the worst a$$ pucker I've ever had happened last fall on the expressway after dark. A mattress flew off the roof of an oncoming cage, over the guardrail, and landed right in front of me. My wife was on the back. No time to do anything but get as straight as I could, lean back, and run the damned thing over. The roadie took it like a champ.

Hope ya used Clorox in the wash. LOL Know what ya mean, I gun her past the truck once the car in front is ahead of the truck. Besides, don't like to ride with all the wind turbulence they create.
Almost went down last week, took a curve way wide, front tire got caught in the crease of the road and the shoulder, fortunately I was on the straight, but it held me there for about 30ft before I could get the front back up on the road, just glad no right curve coming, that for sure would have put me down hard, was still doing 45. Oh well, nothing like an adrenalin rush.

You were lucky on that mattress! A gal I know spent 3 weeks in the hospital after hitting one on an FZ6. Matresses and ladders are tough obstacles to negotiate!

Quit riding the freeways a long time ago just for that reason. All you have to do is look along the sides of the road and the chunks of rubber are everywhere. I had one hit the fender of a utility trailer I was hauling and it bent it all to hell..

Aw, C'mon FLASH! All you have to do is ride like you are in a video game! Everything is an obstacle to negotiate, and not one of the other vehicles on the road is interested in you reaching your destination. If they can do something stupid to cloud up your sun-shiney day, assume they will, and plan for it.

It's overwhelming for some, and at times, it takes some of the fun out of riding a bike, but I actually enjoy the challenge of commuting in a nutso metro area. Absolute best training for the "oh crap" moment out on the byways. If you have no exposure to these kinds of hazards, then your reaction will only be known in the moment of truth. Test yourselves, friends. It's part of how we stay alive. In over 100,000 miles of DFW commuting, I have only went down twice, once for traction, and once because apparently they do not teach folks in North Dallas that you cannot make a right turn at a 6 lane intersection from the CENTER lane!

Haven't had any close calls with a rig on the bike yet, but years ago I was in my mustang coming back from the beach and a rig nearly pushed me into the lefthand guard rail. He never saw me. Luckily I hit the brakes in time and was just at his rear trailer axle and had just enough shoulder to run on til he passed cause he was getting in that left hand lane no matter what, even if it meant killing me. I still don't think he knew why he got the finger as I passed him lol. My dad used to drive otr and now drives a day cab in four states, I rode with him some when I was younger, he's seen some crazy chit to say the least. I just try to keep my distance from them and give em some respect hopeing to receive the same back.
