The rubber band on the lever helps. You can do it in about 1 hour segments, and then overnight as a "capper"

On older Honda fluid clutch cylinders, we used to have to over extend the piston, and then force the stack together with the bolts to get the lever to come back. Have you tried rotating the bars full left to put the MC as high as possible?

Sorry you're having a hard time with it. They can wear you out.

so is flushing your system really worth all the xtra pumping or is it overkill? The good news is I'm learning lots with all this extra effort...

Well last night I tried the rubber band on the brake lever, this morning i had noticeable pressure, so I used my vac bleeder, till I got most the air out, and finished the old fashioned way. Now I'm smiling and riding again...
