I park my roadie right next to my buddies SG every day at work and man that is one beautiful scooter. I dont know if there is a nicer bike made on the planet. I get sticker shock every time i go into the harley dealership and get back on my roadie and smile all the way home on the beautiful bike i own. There is a lot to be said for riding debt free. And man its just about all you see on the road besides sportsters. Around here, it seems to be the case anyway. Ive never seen one R* like mine, ever. post a couple of pics please we have not seen a roadie like yours either lol, mort

I have to agree with you on the smoothness of the ride. I work with Harley riders and they let me hop on whenever I want. They just don't have the vibration (be it engine or drivetrain) that our bikes do. The guys don't give me a hard time about my roadie, we all just like to ride. I love my Roadie, but the Harleys are nice. I couldn't justify the cost, but, hey if it's your dream bike and it fits you well, sounds like the situation is right.... I say go for it.

Don't understand when I hear guys talkn bout " vibration ".
Not like we're riding a old British 650
Just did my longest ride ever bike was dream

I would probably purchase a loaded up Goldwing with all the whistles and bells if the money were there. Honda is the definition of reliability if one has fantasies of riding to far flung places around North America.

+1 on that....I was at the J&P Cycles annual Open House this past weekend and there was a Goldwing on display that a guy bought new and had 317,000 miles on it. It still looked good too.

Harleys may be nice but my next bike will be a Victory Cross Country parked right next to my Roadstar! (might be awhile though )

I have a friend who traded in his RS for a Victory Cross Country, and now as much as he hates admitting it, he misses his RS. Or maybe it's just the "Ultimate seats" he had on his RS. Can't get them yet for the Victory CC.

He should have kept the Roady, at least until he new the Victory was the one.

Hey gang, I appreciate all of the comments. Wow, why is it that the mention of Harley gets so many reactions?

Anyway, I needed time to think so I mowed the front and back of my house. Then I edged and trimmed the trees and bushes (and yes, it was hot as heck out there). Then I went out for some crab legs for my dinner. Now, I'm pondering on my decision with some Gentlemen's Jack. I do all of this when I really need to think.

Here's what I'm thinking.

Hold off for a few months on getting the SG.

Currently, I owe approx $3K in credit card bills, where I pay $500 a month. I don't even think about this payment, it's automatically deducted and I'm comfortable with this amount. So, I'm thinking that I should pay off the $3K as soon as possible. Then, after this is paid, finance the SG. Here's my logic, If the monthly payments are $240.00, I'll pay $500/00 (which is what I'm paying now in cc bills). That way, the SG will be paid off in 3 years instead of 7 years.

My entire gripe is the 7 year commitment.

So by the time the 2013's are ready to be released, I'll be in a better position to get a brand spanking new bike.

There's nothing wrong with Roadstars. They're great and dependable bikes; however, for the past few years, I've been trying to turn my Roadie into a SG. It's just not possible, these 2 great bikes are in different classes. I'm now ready to upgrade.

Thanks again everyone and a special thanks to Hardone2get for the great words of wisdom.

Congrats on finding one that speaks to you. If I rode more I'd park a Road Glide next to the R* in a minute. I've found a few that I liked from time to time and thought about cutting a check one time but got hit with illness soon after. If I got another bike I'd keep the R* for its ease of maintenance and the good stories it carries.

As has been stated you'd do better selling the R* privately...this if you've got the stomach for negotiating and managing the test ride risks.

Hey, if they called you about lowering the rate then there may be room to better the deal in other areas to make it happen (lower rate, lower price, free oil changes, accessories, etc). St Glide is a fine bike. HD's other touring bikes, as was mentioned, may be more comfortable for long haul.

As HardOne mentioned if you got to the point where you find one and are thinking about affordability you may be a goner.

Keep us posted!
