I guess the Navy is still in me because all I ever use is Never-dull. I can still remember polishing all that brass everywhere you look on the ship. Good Stuff. http://www.nevrdull.com/

I agree on the never dull. A can of that stuff will last a loooooong time and keeps things looking nice.

Neverdull has ammonia, so does Brasso. Excellent for bugs and tar.
I just heard of aluminum foil about a year ago, but aluminum wool I've used for many years. It seems to me that modern electroplating is so much thinner and softer than the old stuff. I wonder if the green weenies have gotten something removed from the electroplating that affects durability. I am aware that chroumium products are carcinogenic, just as any of the heavy metals.
Just gotta wonder, since the bumpers on them 1970's Chevy trucks used to clean up real nice with a Brillo pad!

It's definitely thinner than the old chrome bumpers.
I bet some of it is like .0001" thin

It probably has to do with being categorized as a "heavy polluter, or heavy use" facility. I know with V.O.C.s you have to report the quantity you are using in a business cycle, like a quarterly rate or annual rate, and if you use too much in a given cycle, you have to install indicating and recording systems to monitor your V.O.C. output. Heavy metals is probably the same, if you have more than an incidental level of handling going on.

Wow, Dave, that brought back memories of being a "new" recruit at Great Lakes and the "senior" recruits in the galley yelling out every 45 seconds or so "KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF THE BRIGHTWORK!!!"

I use Never dull or Mothers metal polish, put it on with a rag and take it off with another, wouldn't use steel wool on my chrome, used plastic scraper to remove some burnt on stuff from my pipes and no problems

"Never dull" until its nice and clean and the rust is gone, followed with a coat of Meguars(sp?) applied and rubbed on until it is gone, and then polished with a cloth.
Hard to reach places, I use a nylon or brass toothbrush with the Never dull wadding on it...but be careful doing this on easy to see areas..... the chrome will get fine surface scratches that you can't polish out, from the brass brush. Sometimes, the degree and pitting of the rust, can make the brass brush a compromise .

I have a jug of Methyl Ethyl Ketone that I got from a place I used to work. We used it to clean inkjet machines. They were changing brands & instead of throwing it away, I persuaded them to give it to me. It's the best thing in the world to clean melted rubber or plastic off exhaust pipes. Just soak the spot well, then wipe off. No Scratches! Be sure the pipes are cool, & don't smoke around it though, as it's highly flammable, & don't use it on painted surfaces! MEK is a major component in lacquer thinner, so I'm sure that would work as well.
