Lowers, Bat Fairing and Cobra Fatty Bars 4 Years, 6 Months ago
Installing lowers with a bat fairing and Cobra Fatty Bar can be difficult to say the least. Because of the tight turn radius of the fork the crash bar gets in the way of lowers that are installed the conventional way by attaching it to the light bar mounts. As a result the lowers break when they hit the crash bar. I went through 2 sets I made myself and then came up with a spring loaded design. It was all good until I got my bat fairing. The lowers didn't fit any longer and I had to come up with a new idea. Somewhere in a post a guy was talking about loom brackets mounted to the forks. Well, that's what I ended up doing and I am happy with the end result. Next is to make the wind deflectors for the fairing for which I am waiting on the offset brackets I ordered. If anyone is interested I took pictures of the whole process.

If I can figure out a way to post a picture ...

Been back into the garage and looked things over. I think I will redesign the acrylic after all. But before I do so I will make the deflectors for the fairing.

I have the Cobra Fatty Bars on my bike with Buck's Lowers they are made to work with engine guards.
check him out http://www.buckslowers.com/ I must say that his customer service is second to none! If you let him know your exact setup if he doesn't have a fit already for you he will make one. You cab see his lowers on my sig pic.

Yes, I know about them. Thank you. The first set I made based on his design, though a little different. That one got broke by dealer. The next one I broke myself. grins Then I made them spring loaded and that worked well, except not with the bat fairing installed. I came up with a new design over the weekend and now they're fork mounted. I posted a picture in the Road Star Rider forum. 163214.1
