Re:tire wows 10 Months, 1 Week ago
I am running the Commander 2 on the rear of my bike and I like it just fine. I don't think I've felt one bit of squirm or slip yet. I'm a big guy 275 lbs and I ride 2 up a lot. I've also been happy in wet conditions as well. I am planning to put one on the front as well.

In the past, Ive always been a Metzler guy and I am really following this Michelin C2 thread closely.

I installed Shinko 777s front and rear on my bike about 3K miles ago. They are pretty good for traction wet or dry but the performance shop that did the installation work said they have never seen a front motorcycle tire that required so much weight to balance.

Time will tell...

I just put the Shinko 777s on my '06 R* 1700. Front was in perfect balance, rear only took one small weight. I love the ride and handling so far. Huge improvement over the Bridgestone Excedra. I'll see how long they last... Both had red dots where the valve stem gets aligned for mounting. I put the front on myself and took the rear to a mechanic that has a tire machine. Price was about $80 a tire. I read the comments from the other riders on this forum and it sounds like everyone was very satisfied. I have Avon's on my Sportster, Metzler Lasertec on my XS650, and I still need to decide what to put on the KZ550 I'm working on. I would try ME880s but the price is higher than the Shinkos. I think some riders only care about longevity in a tire and that's fine but I want handling and stickiness out of a tire and I don't care how long they last since my life is on the line.Everyone has their opinion but I have seen the consensus with riders who have been at it awhile and performance and handling rules the day. I've been riding since 18 years old and I'm almost 60 now. Best wishes on your new sneakers.

I put a set of Commander II's on this spring and have grown to like them a lot. Always ran Metz 880's since initial change from Dunlops and liked them as well. Only thing I didn't like about the Metz was the longevity.....6000 - 8000 miles on the rear.
Granted, it did take a bit longer than the usual 150 or so miles to "scrub them in" on the Commanders, but I have had no issues with squirminess - solo or 2 up. They look like they are wearing quite well and hopefully will prove to be a long lasting tire. Right now I have about 4k miles on them and they still look new.

I'm 6' and about 200 lbs and ride somewhat agressively most of the time.
