New Vance & Hines Powershots 4 Years, 6 Months ago
So I just got my V&H Powershots installed last weekend and they sound great After I put about a hundred miles on them I notice that the reflection off the transfer case shows the naked pipe under the shield turning yellow/blue (see picture). I figure the discoloration must be a natural part of the pipe heating up. I think the air mixture is about right - prior to install, I rejetted to spec and I get no popping on deceleration; the engine runs great. My question is whether everyone else using these pipes have experienced the same thing and if they did anything to hide the discolored pipe?

I have the speedstar air and jetting kits. I put the 165 main jet in along with a 50 pipot jet, needle clip on 5th position, and air screw at 3 turns out.

Glad to hear it's not just me I'm thinking about painting or putting a silver muffler tape on the section of the pipe that reflects - just to hide it. Got all weekend to mess around with it.

As a riding friend of mine said to me when I first noticed it "Just ride it, you can't see it when you twist the throttle and you know...He was right!

165 Mik or Dyna? A 50 pilot is way too big. Stay with the stock 35. The 5th groove on the needle is OK for doing the WOT but after that you should be on the 4th or even 3rd groove. What's you mpg? All pipes turn colors. That's why they started making heat shields.

I agree with Musky..........50 pilot, hello gas station, and carbon. 35 does the trick in most circumstances. BB
