New owners wondering "Is this engine sound normal" 4 Years, 6 Months ago
Hi all,
(By the way, you can tell it's a slow work day!)
Since I've been a member on this site I've seen a lot of posts from new Road Star owners concerned about how loud their air cooled Road Star engines sound. I too was concerned when I first picked up my 2003 Roadie (used) and it still had 10W-40 conventional oil and stock pipes.

This is not my bike, but I found a clip on YouTube that shows a stock Road Star running. People can correct me if I'm wrong, but this bike sounds pretty loud and it reminds me of how mine sounded when I first got it.

New riders can use this as a comparison to their bike and what should sound normal.

I hope no one uses that as a comparison..who knows if it is even stock, who knows the quality of the microphone doing the recording..I think it would be a big mistake to think your bike should sound like that or even assume there is something wrong with that bike..my 2 cents..

Don't sound good to me. But it would be better if it was someplace with more controled conditions.
