My current experience with SVS 4 Years, 5 Months ago
My Roadie is an '06 Silverado, and has always run great. I have the Cobra Speedster Long exhaust pipes, a BAK from Barons and the AIS has been removed. All the work has been done by the dealership where I purchased the bike. I have never had any problems out of this bike, untill a few weeks ago.

The bike now has 9K miles and i was unable to get it to the dealer for the 8K service, so i decided to change the oil myself and then take it to the dealer later when i had time. I used the Lucas 20/50 full synthetic. The next week while ridin to work the bike cut off when i made the first stop. I tried to crank it back up and it spit & sputtered and wouldn't stay runnin. I left it switched off for a few minutes and then it fired right up and was fine. I rode home and drove my truck to work. That afternoon i rode the bike and it ran fine, no problems. Thought, whew thank goodness nothing was wrong!!

Well, few days later it done same exact thing again!! Then done it again while i was ridin home in the middle of the ride, at full throttle! That weekend, this past saturday, i took it to the dealer. As soon as i started to explain the problem, the owner nodded and said he knew exactly what the problem was. He said i needed to quit burning 93 octane and change to 87! He explained the whole thing about the valves and carbon and all, and said he'd have it back runnin fine!

Well, I forgot to mention about the oil; and after reading all the posts on here i think i need to call him and let him know i put 4 1/4qts of oil in. Thinkin maybe that is the problem! Have had bike for over 2 1/2 years with pipes & BAK and never had SVS. It runs rich, but never had any problems untill oil change.

I will update after speaking with them again! Maybe this can help someone in the future!

Did your bike backfire and loose power or just cut off? My experiance was mad backfire. Funny I never run high test gas (I'm just cheap like that)but my stealer said I should only run high octane gas. your dealer is probably right cause mine is an idiot.

You want to run 87 only in your roadie. Also fill it up with 4 qts of oil, no more! Go for full synthetic like v twin mobil 1 or amsoil. You may want to pull your plugs and check them and change them.
Hope that helps.

It might be the oil change or it might just be coinsidense. Running rich might have finally caught up to you. Or if you have been running premium that might be the issue too. Run some Seafoam, Ringfree. or MMO through it to clean it out. Then change your plugs and see how it goes.

First it sounds like you may have a pretty good dealer.
And like Steven said you might want to check your plugs as they are probably fouled. I think maybe the running rich might have caught up to you.

I just changed the plugs in mine and am running mmo for 3 tanks. I have always run 93 octane in mine but now I am wondering should it be 87 octane Please advise.

Thanks,
Motorman

Run 87

The less explosive 93 does not burn well in our low compression 8.3:1 ratio motors...and leads to carbon build up...

93 is needed when you have a higher compression ratio....

The more "Octane" petroleum component: a liquid hydrocarbon found in petroleum that exists in 18 structurally different forms. C8H18

...in the mix...... the less explosive the mix...

I put in the Kury stop-turn-running light setup along with Kury LED turns front and rear. Works great but you hahe to use both load equalizers or the turns signals are spastic.

By the way if someone will gime instructions I will post some pictures of the LED mounting I did. In front there are two spare holes in the windshield mount that they fit in perfect. In the rear I made a bracket that laid down the license plate and holds the LED turns. Best part it cost me ten bucks and looks pretty sweet.

No, it didn't backfire any, but i am sure it would have if i had reved it. I seen that clip on youtube and it acted sorta like that!

I talked to one of the techs yesterday and they are gonna check the oil and see if it could be the problem. They are pretty busy so I expect they'll have the bike for a few more days. I'll update after I pick it up
