Saddlebags without backrest? 4 Years, 5 Months ago
Hello all,

Im new here, 1st post. This site looks great.

So here is my problem that prompted me to join:

How do I use my saddlebags without having to put the sissy bar on? the 'eyebrows' wont allow the bolts to line up that have the mounts for the bags so if I want to use my bags, I have to put my sissy bar on which Id prefer not too sometimes.

Any help would be MOST appreciated and I hope to participate on your site.

Thanks!

Intricate

2005 Yamaha RoadStar 1700 Midnight.

Sorry, I can't help you on this one.
I've not had a backrest on my Road* to deal with.
There will be several others pop in here in a minute to help though.

BTW: Which bags do you have?

Thanks for the welcome.

I think they are RoadLiner bags... the guy I bought it from said the R* bags were too small so he bought larger and modified the brackets. They guy had a shop on his proprty so I believe everyword of it... they are nice leather hard bags...

You could check out a set of Easy brackets. They have them that work with the non backrest eyebrows.

Hey Intricate,
With the photo I can see that you have the Tour Classic Saddlebags.
Nice bags.
On the Yamaha Accessories they have two saddlebag brackets listed for these bags.
I'm not sure why, but maybe because of the differance between the Siverado, and non Silverado models. Thew Silverado comes with backrests. Others here will know for sure. You probably can modify yours pretty easy though, as Flash said.

There is one bracket to fit both the Silverado model and the Road Star

spacers possibly needed with the thinner Road Star brows...

OK they must be the tour classic ones with one bracket but if he modified the soft saddlebag bracket to fit the tour classic bags then they should still fit and line up???

Or am I too confused ??
